The Bald Archy’s

Project: The Bald Archy’s

Year: 2007 - 2009

  1. “Always the bridesmaid, never the bride” - Oil on Canvas, 120 X 80 cm. Featuring former Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Deputy Prime Minister Peter Costello.

  2. “Abbott Season” - Acrylic on Canvas, 80 X 50cm. Featuring Elma Rudd and Tony Rabbit, this work made light of the at times childish war of words during campaigning for the 2007 election.

  3. “Bone of contention” - Acrylic on Canvas, 80 X 50cm. Featuring former Federal Court Judge Marcus Einfeld who lied to evade a speeding fine. In an effort to avoid the fine Einfeld nominated another driver, American college professor Teresa Brennan. It turns out she had died three years prior to the fine being issued and Einfeld was jailed for perjury.

The Bald Archy art prize is an opportunity for artists of all styles and standards to create portrait paintings of humour, dark satire, light comedy or caricature. The following are three of my entries into the prize with “Always the bridesmaid never the bride” winning the 2007 peoples choice award.
